FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
National Poor Peoples Organization To Announce Their March on Opening Day of the Republican National Convention

What:

The Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign represents poor people’s organizations from around the country. PPEHRC will hold a press conference at the Center for Constitutional Rights to announce their “March For Our Lives” on opening day of the Republican National Convention as well as a week long “Bushville” tent city that will begin August 23rd. The Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign will march regardless of whether they are granted a permit or not, just as they did during the RNC 2000 in Philadelphia when they had over 10,000 people join them. The group will also lead “reality tours” of New York and New Jersey’s most devastated areas and will hold educationals and hear testimony from those most affected by this country’s destructive economic policies over the past four years.

“I will march because both the Republicans and Democrats have ignored the plight of poor and I will march to highlight the war at here at home. A war caused by the massive job losses and people without housing and healthcare and the other basic necessities of life.”

- Cheri Honkala

"The Women's Economic Agenda Project (WEAP), as part of the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, is marching to protest California's devastating budget proposal to county services for poor and working people.”
