I am a 31 year old female who lives in Cleveland, Ohio. I am deaf-low-vision. I am also married to a deaf man. We have struggled through many different issues. I myself was laid off work over three years ago and have not been able to find any jobs due to a bad economy, discrimination and lack of jobs in my area. Many places are afraid to hire me because I am low-vision but I have a college degree in "Applied Business (Information Technology Microcomputer Specialist.)" This has been very stressful to not have a job. My husband has been at his job for 13 years and it is sad to say we don't have a savings, much of a retirement, and can't enjoy anything because we have to live paycheck to paycheck. His pay is to pay our bills. I get SSDI which is not enough and it goes to help with the bills. All too often we can't even afford to buy enough food. We own our home and our monthly payment has gone up. According to the bank it went up due to taxes. We struggle to keep things the best we can. I have not been doing well healthwise. I have had pains in my side. I tried to go to a doctor who refused to give me an appointment when I requested an interpreter. "By ADA Law" I am required to have an interpreter for communication. I am very upset about this. It took me a while to find another doctor who eventually gave me an appointment. My health problems mainly stem from not having the right foods but we can't afford it. I have checked into other places for assistance but they only look at gross amounts so when they are done they will not assist us. NO BODY, understands that the gross amount is not what my husband actually brings home after all the taxes are deducted. We are stuck and I don't know where to turn to most of the time. It is very frustrating and depressing. I ache to see my husband stressed and depressed daily because he works so hard and can't enjoy anything. This world is sad that there is so much going on and the governments or president doesn't pay attention to all the Americans in the U.S who really are good people whose human rights are broken every day.
