Francia Ruiz is 30 years old and lives in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She and her family came to the United States from Colombia a little over five years ago. Like millions of people who live in the United States, Francia, her spouse, and her older children do not have health insurance. If they get sick that will have to make the unfair decision of deciding whether to pay the high cost of a hospital bill that they do not have the money for or deciding whether to forsake medical treatment, risking their life. As human beings this is a decision that no one should have to make. We all have the right to health care and that right should be applied in Francia’s case and everyone else’s case as well.
